With the popularity of Twitter scammes come out in droves. Here's what to watch out for.

The $1 Scam

Watch out for the $1 handling and shipping scam. These websites promise to teach you how to make money using Twitter for just one dollar. But if you read the fine print - and you should - the minute you order the system you are committed to pay monthly fees unless you call the company. One such site is Derrick's Twitter Cash Success (make-money-on-twitter.com). Pure rip-off.

"Click through to the small print and you'll discover that unless you call the company to cancel, you're automatically charged $47 a month. According to BBB, a similar service charges a $1.99 shipping fee and then $99 a month, unless you cancel."

Twitter Traffic Machine

This is a program that teaches you how to set up a Twitter account, get followers, feed a Google news RSS as twits and sell the very same programs you just bought to your followers. Might work, but the problem is that your followers are not buyers. One blogger called them zombies. Brute Force Twitter is a similar product.

** TIP

The only way you can sell to your follower is if you are very careful when you select your niche. Getting 20,000 followers on autopilot could work only if you pick a niche that actually read your tweets.

"The money isn’t in the list, it’s in the conversation. The number chasers simply don’t understand that 1,000 true followers, followers who are human and actually pay attention to what you say, are infinitely more valuable than 100,000 zombies who slavishly follow anything that moves in a futile number chasing exercise."
